These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.

[ Upstream commit b6ebaa81 ] The existing code silently converts read operations with the REQ_FUA bit set into write-barrier operations. This results in data loss as the backend scribbles zeroes over the data instead of returning it. While the REQ_FUA bit doesn't make sense on a read operation, at least one well-known out-of-tree kernel module does set it and since it results in data loss, let's be safe here and only look at REQ_FUA for writes.
