All primitives are compatible with both old-style 4 bytes header and this new, 32 bytes long one. Thanks to the new header, we can now store custom sprite pitch, allowing to align pixel data on the paragraph boundary (16 bytes) r3296

Why in the first place the Linux INPUT code was different from the other platforms? I guess specialized code was added long ago before the Linux console was considered reliable enough... Anyway, now all platforms use the same codebase, but I've left the old specialized code in case it may be needed again in the future. r3290
